Springbok Sports Academy Status Update As of May 2010
I want to thank so many of you for your continued interest in our Springbok Sports Club & Academy project. We have been receiving over a hundred e-mails a month from people looking for updates on the status of our project. Since our press conference in February 2009, I have been focusing my efforts on finalizing our business plan, financials projections, and working with our underwriters to complete our placement memorandum to commence our fund raising efforts. I am now pleased to report that all of this upfront work is now complete and that if all goes as planned our fund raising efforts will commence by the end of this summer. Getting all of the required business planning and financial back-up in place prior to going out to the financial marketplace has been a long slow process that has taken longer than expected, but the scope and quality of what we are going to be creating at Springbok on a national and international basis will be like nothing the world has ever seen. Thanks for your continued patience and I will be back to you with another update in August 2010.

About Springbok Sports Club & Academy
“Anyone in South Africa knows the word “Springbok.”It is the national antelope in South Africa, which has a unique characteristic called “pronking.”The male “pronks” by jumping in one spot to heights of up to 14 feet, to impress females and frighten predators. To become a “Springbok” athlete in South Africa means that you have reached the pinnacle in one’s sport. Selection as a Springbok includes a ceremony where the recipient is awarded a green jacket with gold trim similar in fashion to the Masters Green Jacket. When I was growing up in South Africa, every kid aspired to one day receive his or her Springbok colors.” Johan Kriek, Principal Springbok Sports Club & Academy
We are going to build the “Springbok” brand globally on four (4) pillars of excellence which are: Athletics, Education, Leadership, and Community. All of the Springbok Sports Club & Academy campuses and facilities will focus their combined efforts on the execution and implementation of these four pillars on a local, regional, national, and international basis. Athletics will be the main element and theme of the Springbok experience. All of the facilities and amenities we have planned will promote leadership, education, health & wellness, sportsmanship, competition, commitment, and community at the highest levels found anywhere in the world and we will achieve these goals through athletics.
Located along the I-75 corridor, Springbok’s Florida campus will be located in Lakewood Ranch, (www.lakewoodranch.com), a 30,000 acre development of regional impact located between Sarasota and Manatee Counties, just east of I-75. There are 90 holes of golf within a mile radius of Springbok’s planned main campus location, as well as unlimited retail and housing from all price points, making this a truly unique destination for a world class sports academy and training center. Springbok will be a “Green” facility complex with a comprehensive recycling program, solar panel systems, green landscaping, and LEED or equal project certification.
The Florida campus’ main location will comprise over 340 acres of land and 867,000 sq. ft. of structures, and will include a 110,000 SQ. FT., state-of-the-art Sports Club component that will be opened up to the general public through an annual membership program. The fitness center amenity will be a major draw for the local community and will be a catalyst for potential student athletes for the Springbok Sports Academy operations. In addition to the main 160+ acre Lakewood Ranch main campus, we will also be developing the Springbok Fields Campus which is also located within Lakewood Ranch approximately three miles north of the main campus location. The Springbok Fields Campus set on 180 acres will have twenty-four (24) soccer fields, eight (8) softball fields, and four (4) baseball fields along with the associated parking, concessions, restroom facilities, etc, once fully developed.
The Springbok California operations will be housed at the site of the former Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. Our California partners are currently finalizing plans for a long term land lease for 250 acres of land and a number of the existing facilities with Sacramento County officials. Springbok’s will construct over 845,000 sq. ft. of structures to support the Springbok CA model and experience. The Springbok CA campus will also house a full undergraduate and graduate college offers majors in physical therapy, sports management, broadcasting, and other sports related majors.
The Springbok California Campus will draw full and part time students, families and adults to the campus from varying geographic areas centered on California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Nevada because of proximity to the California campus. Additionally the Springbok California campus will attract a large Asian student contingent because of the proximity to their homes in China, Japan and Korea. If you look at the number of full paying students who attend colleges in America from those geographic locales over 70% attend colleges on the west coast.
With Rick Singer (The Key) College Preparation and Training and Bill Duffy (BDA Sports) as Springbok partners, the exposure we will receive in Asia will be huge. One of Bill’s clients Yao Ming is the preeminent ambassador to sports in China. Yao and the Chinese Sports federation have asked Bill’s team several times if they could bring all their basketball entities to train and their executive and administrative team to be educated in the business of marketing the American way. Several other countries executive powers such as Brazil, Japan, India, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Argentina and Serbia have contacted with Rick Singer and Bill Duffy about training their professional and youth soccer and basketball squads at the academy.
The Springbok Winter Sports Academy operations will be housed in Park City, UT or Telluride, CO. This Academy will be focused on providing the elite winter athlete world class facilities and instruction to raise their skills to the highest levels possible. The Winter Sports Academy will be limited to 100 students initially and will allow for future growth as market demand dictates. The principals who will be heading the Springbok Winter Sports Academy are among the world’s best in Snowboarding and Skiing. The Winter Sports Academy will also offer Springbok Academy students from the Florida and California operations the opportunity to participate in some winter sports during their time at Springbok and allow the Winter Academy student to spend part of the year in the warmer climates pursuing other sports interests.
